You may want to bring a brush/comb and your own products such as deodorant and lotions.

Please stay away from strong fragrances in consideration of others!

If you use contact lenses, please remember to bring something to store them in while you float.

What do i wear during a float?
You can wear anything you want, but we would strongly recommend you wear nothing in order to get the full benefits.

Theoretically as long as you want, but Float UK offers 30, 60 and 90 minute Float Sessions (please email us or ask at reception for alternative float times)

We recommend a 60 minute first float to fully Immerse yourself within the experience.

However more experienced floaters book multiple sessions that can last anywhere from 2 to 3 hours.

What should I expect after my first float?

The team at Float UK believes each individual experience is different, so it’s hard to pin point an precise decription of what you will might expect. However, all feedback we’ve recieved so far has been extremely postive.

How many people can float at once?
We only allow one person per pod at a time.
We do however, have three float pods in separate rooms, so up to three people can float simultaneously.

Do i need a change of clothes?
Not Necessarily. It’s common for floaters to exit the tank, have a shower and put your clothes back on to resume your day where you left off. But should you wish to change, then by all means. Your room is completely private.

Float Concerns

What is Epsom Salt and why is it used in flotation tanks?
Epsom Salt, named after a bitter saline spring at Epsom in Surrey, England, is not actually salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulphate. Renowned as a natural remedy for a number of ailments, Epsom salt has numerous health benefits as well as many beauty, household and gardening-related uses.

The wonders of Epsom salt have been well known for hundreds of years and unlike other salts, Epsom salt has beneficial properties that can soothe the body, mind and soul. Some of the countless health benefits include relaxing the nervous system, curing skin problems, soothing back pain, easing muscle strain, healing cuts, treating colds and congestion, and drawing toxins from the body

How much salt is required and is it supplied by Orbit?
500kg (1102lbs) of Epsom Salt is required per Orbit – please contact us for which salt is certified for use with Orbit.

Delivery & Installation

I’m unsure about floating. Can I come take a look first?

Yes of course! Contact a member of our team and we’ll organise a time for you to come
and visit Float UK to see the tank prior to comitting to a float session!

How clean is the solution?

The solution is fully drained out of Orbit at the end of every float, where it then passes through several filters.

A powerful pump and the very latest in filtration technology are incorporated in the design of the Orbit Pump Unit.

Orbits dual filters are fully effective to one micron which is an incredible 100 times smaller than a human hair!

Also the Epsom Salts are a natural disinfectant and create a hostile enviroment for bacteria, so it’s next to impossible for bacteria to live in Orbits solution. Please don’t worry, you won’t smell like you just came out of a public swimming pool or a hot tub.

What ages can float?

From ages 18+

What if I can’t swim?

Floating does not require an ability to swim and with such high levels of Epsom Salt the buoyancy is what will keep you floating!

What happens if I fall asleep? Can I Drown?

The high buoyancy of the salt water makes it impossible for an individual to sink beneath the surface. Once you are settled in the tank, you will only be able to touch the bottom of the tank with a great deal of effort.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

This is a very common topic for first time customers, but it’s not a problem.

The inside is rather like a tent. It’s warm, illuminated and well ventilated.

The power assisted door enables you open and close it whenever you like
and allows you to stop it at any point leaving it slightly or completely open. It’s up to you!

Will I have enough air?

Yes, of course! The air inside, is warm and it rises by convection. There is a vent at the top for the air to leave, and the fresh air enters near the water line and around the lid. The ventilation system is a Full airflow design that is draught free.

Are there lights in the tank?

Yes! The Orbit tank has four LED’s in its base and two more in its drain unit. The colours and timephase for these are changed in your preferences, prior to your float.

There is also a button inside the tank where you can switch on the lights at any point during the float!

Can I accidently turn over in the water?

No! The water is very shallow, just ten inches deep.

Also, it is much heavier than ordinary water because of the added Epsom salts,
so you float very easily and much higher in the water than in a swimming pool or another body of regular water.

You float on your back with absolutely no effort, with no tendency to roll over, unless you do it on purpose.

People often fall asleep in float tanks and there is no risk of rolling over.

Can I float if I’m pregnant?

Always consult with your doctor first!

It is considered that pregnant women probably get more relief from the float tank than anyone else.

Just lying on a bed can be extremely uncomfortable for a woman in the later stages of pregnancy due to the massive
gravitational strain placed on the body.

The float tank is a wonderful haven for pregnant women.

We do, however, recommend that pregnant women avoid floating during the first trimester.

If you have any concerns about the effects of floating on your pregnancy, we ask you to consult and get permission from your
physician before you float.

Can I float if I’m menstruating?

Yes you can. We advise that you take the same precautions that you would take when going to a swimming pool.

Do I have to stay in there the entire time?

No! You can open and leave the tank whenever you like.
Simply open Orbit’s door a few inches and it will open the rest of the way for you!

Who should avoid floating?

We do not recommend floating for Epileptics or people who suffer from
Heart Conditions and Ear Infections, unless you’ve been cleared to do so by your Doctor.

You will be required to complete a Form prior to your session to determine if floating is safe for you.

How regularly do you clean the tanks?

The Float Tank cleans itself and its solution everytime it fills up / empties so all we have to do is clean the room, ready for your visit, which is done between every float.

Will I get dehydrated from soaking in salt for too long?

Your skin doesn’t even prune up, this is due to the high levels of Epsom Salts in the water. You do absorb a lot of Magnesium from the Epsom Salt, so we advise keeping hydrated after your first float!

Can I go about my day as usual after a float?

Of course! We advise that you take some time to relax after your expeience in our dedicated relaxation room. Take an opportunity to bring yourself back to reality or tell us about your experience! We’d love to hear what you think!

Our Float Tank

What Float Tank do we use?

We use a new Floatation Tank called Orbit.

For more infomation about Orbit please visit www.orbit-float.com

How Does it work?

In short, Orbit pumps an Epsom Salt solution into it’s fibreglass shell, which is about 25cm deep. Orbits power asisted door mechanism allows you to enter and close it with ease. This then creates the ultimate relaxing environment that gives you a sense of complete weightlessness and feeling of infinite space!

All of this is completely customisable. Prior to your float you can choose what music you listen to and what light effects you wish to have in your float!

What is Epsom Salt?

Epsom salt is magnesium sulphate. It is found naturally in many spa waters. It is very different from sea or table salt, which is mainly sodium chloride. Epsom salt has been used medicinally for centuries to treat various health issues.

It is non toxic and won’t harm you if you swallow some, but try not to as it has a very bitter and salty taste. We use it for two main reasons: it raises the density of the water, making it much easier to float, and it softens your skin.
